Dr. Katja Reitan is a Norwegian and European Patent Attorney (European Qualifying Exam 2012) working with IP-rights and protection since 2006 in Acapo. Katja specializes in the areas of biology, biochemistry, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, and aquaculture.
Katja assists clients in drafting and prosecution of patent applications, oppositions, freedom-to-operate analysis, infringement actions and litigation.
Over several years, Katja has acquired experience from litigating cases within the pharma and aquaculture sector in Norway where she assisted law firms.
Katja holds a degree as Diplom Biologist from Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), Germany, where she was majoring in microbiology, zoophysiology, biochemistry and organic chemistry. In 1999, she presented her Dr. thesis at the KIT within the field of fish nutrition and physiology. Katja has worked with marine research at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) for more than 10 years. She also has a great deal of experience from interdisciplinary research projects within aquaculture, biotechnology, and engineering science.
In 2019 Katja qualified as litigator at the United Patent Court in Europe.
Katjas mother tongue is German, her working languages are Norwegian, English and German.
