Helen has passed the qualifying examinations to become both a European Patent Attorney and Chartered Patent Attorney (UK). She joined Acapo in 2020 after qualifying as an EPA in 2017, and she both trained and worked as a qualified attorney in London before making the move to Norway. She focusses on work in fields relating to physics, including electronics and medical and mechanical devices and has experience in drafting applications, prosecuting these through to grant, and attending oral proceedings before the EPO. She also advises clients regarding freedom to operate and infringement issues.
Prior to beginning her training to become a patent attorney, Helen completed an MSci and PhD in Astrophysics at University College London. Her masters project involved the determination of chemical abundances within planetary nebulae and her PhD related to interstellar clouds and the very early stages of star formation, including the study of the structure of these clouds using radio telescope data.
Helen is a member of the Chartered Institute of Patent Attorneys (CIPA) and EPI. Helen’s working language is English.
