The London Agreement has now been accepted in Norway, and The Norwegian Patent Act has been amended accordingly. The changes are assumed to come into effect as of January 1, 2015. This regards European patent applications for which notice of grant has been published in the European Patent Bulletin after January 1, 2015. For a granted European patent to be validated in Norway after this date, just the patent claims have to be translated to the Norwegian language. The description must be translated to English or Norwegian if it is in French or German.
International patent applications are also affected by the amended Norwegian Patents Act. International patent applications entering the national phase in Norway after January 1, 2015 may be filed and examined in English. When such an application is granted, the patent claims must be translated.
