Katja works as Norwegian and European professional representative within the field of patent law, specialized in the area of biology, biochemistry, food science, pharmacy, medicine, biotechnology and aquaculture. She deals principally with preparation and prosecution of patent applications in Norway and abroad, as well as with oppositions, freedom-to-operate analysis, conflicts, and the evaluation of infringements in patent rights.
Katja joined Acapo in 2006 and qualified as a European Patent Attorney in 2012.
Katja holds a degree as a Diploma Biologist from the University of Karlsruhe, Germany, majoring in microbiology/ zoophysiology/ biochemistry/organic chemistry. In 1999 she presented a Dr. thesis at the University of Karlsruhe within the field of fish nutrition. She has worked within marine research at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) for more than 10 year and has a great deal of experience from interdisciplinary projects within aquaculture, biotechnology and engineering science. Katja has experience in teaching and supervising of master and PhD students.
Katja is member of NPF (Norwegian association for Patent attorneys, a national FICPI organization in Norway), FICP, Epi, and LES.
Katja’s mother tongue is German, her working languages are English, Norwegian, and German. She has some experience in French.
